Epic Games compares Wii to a "virus"
The folks at Epic Games certainly haven't been shy to make their feelings about the Wii known in the past, but company president Michael Capps took things up a few more notches in a recent interview with IGN, with him not only once again bemoaning the Wii's underpowered hardware, but even going so far as to compare the console to a "virus." You can find Capps' complete musings on the matter at the link below, but the short of it is that he thinks the Wii maintains its success by building on a chain reaction of sorts, with one person buying the console only to get tired of it two months later, but not before they showed it to someone else, who also though it was cool and went out and bought one, and also got bored with it a couple of months later, and so on and so on. Capps does add, however, that there's obviously "a class of people who really love it and enjoy it and are getting into the games," but that he's waiting for "that one game that makes me play it," and that "maybe Wii Fit will be it." That apparently still doesn't mean you can expect to see any games from Epic on the Wii, however, with Capps flatly saying that "we go forward, not back."

Neo Geo Stick 2

Fans of the old school Neo Geo console have been getting their fix of their favorite games the Wii’s Virtual Console for a while now. But playing those classic games using a Wii-mote or crummy gamepad controller just can’t compare to the Neo Geo’s original arcade controller.

Now you can have your cake and eat it too with SNK’s Neo Geo Stick 2 controller for the Nintendo Wii. It connects directly to your Wii and lets you play your favorite old games properly. The stick is based on the original Neo Geo controller, complete with arcade joystick and a great button layout for playing fighting games and the like.

The controller is available now from Play-Asia, and priced at $59.90.

BBC's iPlayer coming to Wii
The BBC's iPlayer streaming video service, which allows people to catch up with BBC programmes, will be getting its own Wii channel. an early version of the service will launch 9 April but "more polished software will be released as the service is developed." The channel is likely to put an even greater strain on UK ISPs who are apparently at loggerheads with the BBC over who should pay for extra network costs by the on-demand TV service.  It will cost 500 Wii points (approx. £3.50) to install the channel, but the BBC say that they later hope to be able to get iPlayer on Wii without this purchase being needed.
